Counter space is often limited in most clinical settings, and there are frequently more devices than available space to place them. Unfortunately, solutions to this problem tend to be less than satisfactory. Equipment can simply be stacked on countertops, but this makes work more difficult, especially if the device is used infrequently. Devices can be moved back and forth from storage, but this carries a risk of drops that can destroy costly equipment and injure the user. Even once they are on a counter or table, ophthalmic instruments are often not at the correct height for the work at hand, requiring both the patient and the operator to adapt to the equipment.
