Five Measurement Modes for Comprehensive Diagnostics

The TOMEY RC-800 features five essential measurement modes accessible from an intuitive on-screen interface: Refractometry for accurate and reliable objective refraction with automatic fogging; Keratometry for fast and precise measurement of corneal curvature; KRT Corneal Diameter mode to assess corneal size using digital calipers on anterior segment images; Pupil Diameter Measurement for straightforward evaluation by aligning on-screen cursors with the pupil edges; and CLBC mode to determine the ideal base curve for contact lenses. This all-in-one system streamlines diagnostics and enhances efficiency in any clinical setting.

Refractometry and Keratometry

The TOMEY RC-800 combines fast and precise refractometry and keratometry in an easy-to-use device. Automatic fogging ensures accurate refraction results, while short consecutive measurements provide reliable keratometric data. With measurements at φ3.0 mm (R = 8.0 mm), it also offers valuable support for contact lens fitting. Thanks to intuitive joystick and touchscreen operation, the RC-800 delivers professional results in minimal time—ideal for modern ocular diagnosis.

Additional Diagnostic Modes

Auto Shot Function

The Auto Shot function automatically initiates measurement once optimal alignment is achieved in the vertical, horizontal, and focus directions. When enabled, the background of the [AS] indicator in the lower right corner of the screen turns blue. To align correctly, use the joystick to move the central point located in the middle of the cornea toward the target ring. Then, tilt the joystick forward or backward until the focus indicator becomes smaller. A horizontal focus indicator means the measurement head is too far from the eye, while a vertical indicator means it is too close. When the focus indicator disappears, proper focus has been achieved, either at the corneal center or at the iris. If Auto Shot is disabled, the background of [AS] turns gray and measurements must be taken manually.

Printing

Once a measurement is complete, press the “Print” button at the bottom of the screen to print the results. If automatic printing is enabled, the results will be printed automatically once both eyes have been successfully measured the specified number of times using Auto Shot. However, automatic printing will not occur if the device determines that additional measurements are needed or certain conditions are met, such as: a change in measurement mode during the process, manual measurement using the joystick button, measurements taken without using Auto Shot, or failure to obtain valid data within the established number of attempts due to errors.

Language Selection

The RC-800 features a multilingual interface, allowing users to operate the device in their preferred language. Available options include English, Japanese, German, Chinese, Spanish, Latin American Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, French, and Russian.
