Refractometry and Keratometry

After the patient is comfortably positioned using the motorized chinrest, clinicians can take advantage of an enhanced load-free joystick for alignment. Once aligned, the ERK-BH performs refraction and keratometry with a single press of the joystick button. The ERK-BH can obtain accurate measurements even in highly myopic patients thanks to its wide dioptric measurement range (-30D to +25D). By directing the patient’s gaze toward the peripheral fixation lamps, peripheral corneal curvature measurements can be taken at the touch of a button. The ERK-BH also features an exceptionally wide range for radius of curvature measurements (5.0 mm to 13.0 mm).

Peripheral Keratometry

Peripheral corneal curvatures can be measured by having the patient look at the peripheral fixation lamps. Measuring the corneal periphery helps examine irregular astigmatism and also helps determine a better fit for a contact lens. There are two illumination modes for the peripheral fixation lamps: AUTO / MANU.

Vision Comparison

The CF (Visual Function Comparison) mode allows examinees to experience corrected vision by applying additional diopters. If the examinee does not have presbyopia or is a first-time user, it may be difficult to perceive the effect.

Multiple Measurements in a Single Device

In addition to conventional refraction and keratometry measurements, the system allows evaluation of corneal diameter and base curve for contact lens fitting. This capability broadens diagnostic possibilities and facilitates the efficient collection of data required for both spectacle prescription and contact lens selection and fitting, optimizing clinical workflow and enhancing patient care.

SIZE Mode

The corneal diameter can be measured in SIZE mode for contact lens prescription. The pupil size can also be measured to assess the degree of dilation, and the contact lens size can be measured without requiring the patient to remove it.

Illum Mode

By directing a light toward the pupil, you can observe the condition of cataracts or scratches on contact lenses on the monitor in ILLUM mode.

Multiple Measurement Modes for Comprehensive Evaluation

The EKRK-BH incorporates various measurement modes that allow the examination to be tailored to different clinical needs. The REF Mode is designed to obtain precise ocular refraction measurements, facilitating the determination of refractive errors. The KER Mode focuses exclusively on the measurement of corneal curvature, providing essential data for contact lens fitting and evaluation of the corneal surface. For greater efficiency, the K/R Mode simultaneously performs refraction and keratometry measurements, optimizing examination time and improving workflow in the practice.

Additionally, the device features an advanced IOL Mode, which provides precise keratometric parameters to support IOL power calculation in cataract surgery procedures. Thanks to this versatility, the EKRK-BH becomes a comprehensive solution for visual assessment, enabling the clinician to obtain detailed diagnostic information quickly, accurately, and efficiently.

Intuitive Diameter Measurement

The ERK-BH integrated software allows diameter measurements to be easily performed using the freeze mode, where measurements of the cornea, pupil, or rigid contact lenses worn by the patient can be taken. Simply by touching and dragging the screen with a finger, these measurements are calculated with precision.

Retro Illum Mode

Image quality is guaranteed with the device’s enhanced retroillumination mode, which helps expose flaws or problematic damage in rigid contact lenses. Additionally, this device features built-in calculations for patients with IOL or cataracts.

Enhanced display function for backlight mode

Ten images and results from both eyes can be reviewed simultaneously through an enhanced screen control system.

Customizable User Interface

The system allows selecting between a black or white color user interface, adapting to the preferences and needs of each professional. This customization option enhances visual comfort during daily use, facilitates the reading of information under different lighting conditions, and contributes to a more comfortable and efficient working experience.

IOL Measurement

For ease of measurements in a cataract patient, simply activate the “IOL” function.

Semi-automatic pupil tracking

The system can automatically detect and adjust the pupillary position height, reducing examination time. With a single button click, the user can switch from automatic tracking mode to manual mode. Measurement convenience and accuracy are enhanced by the addition of joystick guidance images, designed to easily track the focus of the eyeball.

Short-Distance Vision Simulation

An optician can easily determine whether a patient needs progressive lenses through a pre-correction vision simulation. The patient can compare the before and after effects of the correction through a short-distance vision simulation.

Convenient control via TFT-LCD touchscreen

Operation and configuration are straightforward with the ERK-BH’s 7-inch LCD touch monitor (800×480). Users can avoid neck and back strain thanks to the enhanced flexibility of the touchscreen, which can tilt up and down 180° and 135-145° left and right. By tapping an icon, the user can change various settings without losing their workflow.

Interactive Configuration via Touchscreen

The interactive configuration feature allows system parameters to be modified quickly and easily by simply tapping the icons on the screen. Thanks to its intuitive touch interface, users can view and apply configuration changes in real time, optimizing workflow and saving valuable time during the daily operation of the device.

Tilt and rotate

The screen can be shared from all directions, regardless of the position of the patient or the examiner.

Instant Data Display

Data from the ten most recent examinations can be loaded with a single button press, and a built-in printer allows users to print records during the examination. Data can be easily transferred using a USB or RS-232 cable.

Motorized Chin Rest

The chin rest is motorized and can be adjusted by the operator using a conveniently located switch. This design facilitates chin rest adjustment when switching from patient to patient. The motor is easily controlled by pressing the switch up or down.

Enhanced Joystick Performance

The load-free joystick ensures a smoother and improved eye examination, as the user can perform measurements without vibratory interference. This system allows for more precise measurements compared to the belt-type joystick previously adopted.

Stage Lock

The main body of the unit can be easily secured to the base with the convenient one-touch lock.

Printer with Automatic Cutting Function

The ERK-BH provides immediate and complete printouts of measurement results, and features an automatic printer cutter for added convenience. An economy print mode can be used to save printer paper by displaying results in a more compact format and adjusting the font size.

Compatible multi-system connection

The ERK-BH can be connected to several other Ezer digital ophthalmic instruments to serve as the hub of the digitally enabled examination room. Data can be entered or transferred directly from compatible devices, and the control box can operate many of the different functions of each device.

DIGITAL CLINIC

What is an EMR?

Electronic Medical Records (EMR) are a technological tool widely used in modern medical practices to manage patients’ clinical information digitally. Designed to replace paper-based records, EMR systems facilitate the collection, organization, and tracking of medical data over time, improving efficiency and accuracy in healthcare delivery.

An EMR system integrates the various components of a medical consultation, including patient demographic data, clinical history, prescriptions, laboratory results, examination notes, practice management software, and other relevant information. By centralizing all of this data on a single platform, healthcare professionals can quickly access the information needed to make more informed clinical decisions.

In addition to streamlining administrative and clinical processes, EMR systems contribute to improved patient care through more efficient information management. Many systems also include patient portals, allowing patients to securely access results, medical histories, and direct communication with their healthcare providers, promoting greater transparency and engagement in their own medical care.
