Wide dioptric range of 72 combined lenses

Offers correction from -36D to +35D in 1D steps, allowing precise and smooth focusing of the fundus. The direct-reading diopter indicator is backlit for legibility at any light level.

Versatile aperture and filter system

Includes five independent options: standard aperture, small aperture, slit, concentric scale, and red-free filter. The optional polarizing filter minimizes corneal reflex without compromising bright fundus visualization.

Ergonomic design with protected optical components

The components are fully enclosed and protected by an opening shutter with no cap required. Manufactured in Japan with advanced technology and an easy-to-grip design for extended professional use.

Swappable battery system for uninterrupted operation

The detachable BXa head allows quick swapping between charged battery handles. Compatible with dual charging station for uninterrupted work with no waiting times.

Fundus observation with minimal corneal reflex

The NTZ-OPH-BXa-RC by Neitz combines aberration-free optics with advanced features to create the ideal direct ophthalmoscope, with the ability to minimize corneal reflex.

The portable model NTZ-OPH-BXa-RC uses a combination of 72 focusing lenses; the corrective lenses offer a wide range from -36D to +35D in 1D steps, and the corrective lens wheel provides smooth focus adjustment that makes it easy to maintain a sharp image of the fundus. In addition, the direct-reading diopter indicator is backlit by the halogen illumination system and is readable at any lighting level.

A built-in polarizing filter can be inserted into both the illumination and observation axes and rotated to minimize corneal reflex in the patient without sacrificing bright fundus visualization. Furthermore, the aperture dial and filter lever can be adjusted independently, making it possible to use a 4000K filter or polarizing filter across all apertures. These include a standard aperture, small aperture, slit aperture, concentric scale aperture, and red-free filter aperture.

Position Aperture/Filter Function
Normal Aperture Used for typical fundus examination
Small Aperture Used when examining small pupils. Particularly when examining through constricted pupils, such as during macular examination.
Red-Free Filter Red tissues such as blood vessels appear black, facilitating the detection of minute fundal hemorrhages.
Concentric Scale While observing the patient’s fundus, instruct the patient to fix their gaze on the center of the concentric scale. The presence of eccentric fixation can be determined from the relationship between the center of the concentric scale and the patient’s foveola.
Slit The use of slit illumination facilitates the recognition of surface irregularities of the fundus.

Brilliant illumination is provided by the L-29 halogen bulb and is enhanced by an innovative condenser lens and mirror reflection system, made possible by Neitz’s 50 years of experience in medical optics. This, combined with the powerful rechargeable battery, gives this ophthalmoscope twice the brightness of our replaceable-battery ophthalmoscope.

The optical components of the NTZ-OPH-BXa-RC are completely enclosed within the device head and are protected by the aperture shutter – no cover is required.

This ophthalmoscope includes a replacement bulb and carrying case. With the Dual Desk Charger NTZ-CHG-RC-II charging station (sold separately) and an additional RC battery handle, users will not need to stop their work to charge the device. Simply transfer the detachable BXa head to the freshly charged battery and it will be ready to use.

Expert craftsmanship, a high degree of customization, aberration-free lenses, and innovative optical systems place the NTZ-OPH-BXa-RC direct ophthalmoscope in a category of its own.
